Slim the Drifter

His name was Scott. He was my friend, but in all fairness he seemed to be everybody’s friend judging by how he bursted in with a vigorous, audible and amplified embrace of seemingly everyone beyond the threshold of Guthrie’s, Sud’s, All American Tattoo & Photo…you name the place.

He was a leader and a powerful force who passed away in 2007 and his personality still echoes (ever louder) beyond the alleys of Bakersfield.

Look for more on Slim the Drifter aka Scott Sturtevant from other friends/fans like the ones who produced an excellent, sentimental and illuminating documentary about the vital musical heritage that purveys beyond the Bakersfield Sound.
